Yes, Joemma Beach is very serene and more and more boaters are able to take advantage of it. The new docking set up has really brought people together to enjoy this lovely state park.

I know I have said this before but this is one of my favorite parks. And on this day the tide was high and there was no walking along the sandy part of the beach. So, we took to the docks instead. It was alot of fun. People were fishing and crabbing and visiting.
The Key Peninsula seems to be a place that many people from Federal Way like to go. Many have little cabins on the water so they can go water skiing. Others are just like me and just like to enjoy the ocean water and the beautiful scenery of the State Parks.
I am lucky becauseI have friends who have property out that way in Vaughn, Washington. It is only a few minutes away from both State Parks on the Key Peninsula. That is how I manage to swing by my favorite park away from home. And now it is up for sale. I will tell you more about that later.

It was one beautiful day.

Take a drive to the Key Peninsula and you will find 2 beautiful state parks. You head towards Tacoma on I-5, take the Gig Harbor/Bremerton Exit onto highway 16, cross the great Tacoma Narrows Bridge (kids love this, yes teenagers, too and us adults, of course)and then continue on to the Purdy exit. After exiting keep going until you get to the light (not to far). Take a left at the light to go over what we call the Purdy spit and you will be on the Peninsula. There are plenty of signs letting you know how to get to both the Penrose State Park and Joemma Beach.
First we have Penrose Park

This day the tide was out.

There are camp sites, picnic areas and many walking trails.

And when the tide is out you can walk on the beach.
The other is Joemma Beach.

It is one of my favorites. It has a sandy beach where you can roll your pant legs up and take your shoes off and enjoy walking and searching. I, actually, found a few sand dollars. Imagine, sand dollars in Seattle or should I say Vaughn, on the Key Peninsula. Sometimes it feels like California only less crowded. (So, I have been told by friends, I am a Washingtonian, born and bred). There is, also, a stetch of dock with a ramp down to a lower deck for boats. This is fairly new and looked so awesome now that they have it completed. And only one lonely sun bather.

There really is just so much to see and so much you can do. Now, just take the time to enjoy it!
